About the Author
Daniel Capano is a control systems engineer at the firm of Malcolm Pirnie. He has more than a dozen years of experience in instrumentation and control systems in a number of large projects, including New York City's sludge dewatering plant and the Boston Harbor Project. He is also a former ISA president. Brian J. McPartland is an electrical consultant and editor of Electrical Design and Installation magazine. He is also coauthor of several popular electrical guides, including Handbook of Electrical Construction Calculations, Second Edition; Handbook of Practical Electrical Design; and McGraw-Hill's National Electrical Code Yearbook.

The Bible

I have been looking for a book like this for 50 years. So informative it boggles the mind. I don't know how I got along without it. So well written and insightful. I couldn't believe the things that I learned from this book. I don't know what they were thinking when they passed this over for the Nobel. Couldn't put it down. Einstein has nothing on Mr. Capano, a rising star in the field of engineering and the practical application thereof. I wish I could forget everything that I learned from this book so I could have the wonderful feeling of discovery I felt upon first reading this modern masterpiece. Bravo, Mr. Capano, Bravo. There is a special place in engineering heaven reserved for you. I don't know how I can ever thank you or repay the debt of gratitude I humbly owe for sharing your truly inspiring, dare I say it, genius. There, I said it. Thank you, thank you, a thousand times, thank you.

Not about cabling and definetly not for contractors.

Just look at Table of Contents. This book offers very little practical input on actual installation of cable. It's better suited for network topology design and review of network equipment,protocols, and theory in general. Almost half of the book is an assortment of RFC's and protocol standarts. Regurgitation of irrelevant information. Get 'The Cabling Handbook' by Vacca or 'The complete guide to network cabling'.

MR. CAPANO'S BOOK PROVIDES AN INSIGHT INTO CABLE FOR NETWORKS THAT IS EASY TO READ, INFORMITIVE AND ENTERTAINING AS WELL. QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR SUCH A TECHNICAL PIECE. A TOME THAT IC CUTTING EDGE AND PRESENTED WITH A CLEAR SENCE OF LOGIC, PACE, AND CHOCK FULL OF USEFUL INFORMATION FOR ANY CONTRACTOR IN THIS PARTICLAR FIELD. MAKES ME WANT TO GO OUT AND LAY SOME CABLE.
