The Best

Engineering Circuit Analysis by Kemmerly and Hayt (third edition)is second to none. With it's clear and thorough mathematical coverage of circuits, a moderately intelligent student will get a solid grounding for most EE courses that follow. It also has chapters that cover everything you have to know about the mathematical derivation and circuit application of Fourier analysis, Fourier transforms, and Laplace transforms. The book is written for the student, and it's writing style is very helpful for both intuitive and mathematical understanding of all circuits and circuit related material covered. Containing just the right amount of humor, it is also enjoyable to read.

Lots of info with occasional poor definitions

This book gives a lot of information on circuit analysis techniques but some of the definitions are poor, especially with meshes and trees. Mesh loops actually are loops such that they cannot be formed with any of the other loops that were chose in the circuit. Also, their examples with RLC circuits give overly complicated methods of finding initial changes in inductor current or capacitor voltage. The book should show that an easy way to find initial changes in inductor current or capacitor voltage is to plug the initial inductor current or capacitor voltage into the nodal equation or loop equation that has been differentiated so that the change in inductor current or capacitor voltage is present in the equation.

What the Engineer Knows and the Technician Doesn't

This is not an easy book, and may stump those trying to use it
for self-study. Having said this, and with the proviso that you're
going to need some calculus, this could be the book for you.
This book contains the kind of information that the EE knows
and the ASET, and possibly the BSET, don't. This book can't
be read for pleasure. It requires careful and thorough study,
and working the exercises to test your understanding. But, if
you put forth the effort, you will be richly rewarded.
