Don't waste your time/money

This book is available at the clinic where I work. I have perused it several times. While the content is ok, the format is bland and does not lend itself well to working in a busy (70+ patient per day) urgent care clinic. I much prefer another book, which I carry around with me to all the clinics I work (Minor Emergencies... by Buttaravoli). I wouldn't waste my money on this one.

One of a Kind

The growing field of Urgent Care desperately needs guide books, and there are few. Part Family Practice, part Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care fills a huge gap in the US's faulty health care system. Edwards' and Mayer's book is an adequate primer. They manage to touch on most of what is seen; the format is clear; and each section has "red flags" to keep you out of trouble. A surprising amount of material is covered in a digestible space, and is hands-on and practical. A larger, more detailed text is needed, but if you have a background in clinical medicine, you can read this book a couple of times and get started.

Not as good as free aps.

Too old. I didn't notice the 2002 print date until I had already highlighted several chapters. Not easy to use on the job. I gave up the second day in Fast Track. Free aps are much more useful.
